Romblon Trip Part 2 (Bosay and Looc Santuary): October 27 to November 1, 2016

On top of the ride, going to Looc Fish Sanctuary
Tuburan Falls ("Bosay")

Our first destination was a falls located in the innermost part of Brgy Tuburan, Odiongan.  Locals are calling this place as "Bosay", which means falls in their dialect.  The waterfall is an easy 30 to 45 minutes walks from the jump-off (the first stream) in a 1-3 trail class.  There are series of stream crossings (around 5) and few rocks climbing (near the basin).

The waterfall has several layers and some of its portions are deep.  At the top of the first layer, there is a hidden basin.  The place is not yet crowded.  During our visit, we did not encounter other groups of travelers.

Joy

It was a great experience owning this place for a moment; away from urban noise and crowded place.  We only heard the sound of nature and felt its force through the current of water.  Truly relaxing and fun!

We left the falls around 10 am and fetched Catherine (sister of She) at the Odiongan Port.

Looc Fish Sanctuary

Our last destination that day was the Looc Bay Marine Refuge and Sanctuary.  This is a 48 hectare environmentally protected area which houses 100 different marine species.  The star attraction of the place is a floating hut located 10 to 15 minutes away from the Port, where one can have joyful moments swimming with colorful marine life.  There is also a remnant of a lighthouse, which creating a mysterious ambiance on the place.

We had our late lunch on the floating hut.  Grilling is allowed, just bring the necessary tools.

The Lighthouse
The floating hut is tied on the lighthouse.  More fishes can be seen there.  During the time that I was on my way to the lighthouse, I felt a strange feeling.  Perhaps, it was fear, so I decided to backtracked.

I think I forgot to bring a fishing rod?

We did not able to follow our planned itinerary that day to include the Mainit Falls.  We went back to San Andres and prepared for the next day (Romblon Island).

Going There

We rented a jeepney for the whole day:  4,000 pesos for 10 people (San Andres-Odiongan-Looc-San Andres).

Another cheaper alternative is to take public jeepney going to Looc and Odiongan.  You can hire habal-habal to bring you to those destinations upon arrival in the respective towns.

Note:

a. We did not pay any registration fee in Tuburan, so I guess there's none.  I'd read an account stating that there are available tour guides in the area.  We did not encounter someone during our trip.  The trail is straightforward, just follow the stream.

b. There is a registration fee of 100 pesos per head in the Looc Sanctuary.  The amount includes boat rental and life vest.  Additional fee of 50 pesos will be charged for the usage of snorkel.  For solo traveller, you will be charged 300 pesos for the boat rental.  Each group can stay in the floating hut for a maximum duration of 2 hours.  This can be extended for 30 minutes during off-season.  The locals orientated us to never touch the corals since it can damage the marine habitat.
